Buffy - Revelations
With some help from Faith's new watcher, Buffy seeks to destroy a weapon-like glove before it falls into the hands of a demon

Scene 1: At the Bronze
- Summary:
- The Bronze is packed, and Dingoes Ate My Baby finish their set. Oz joins Willow, Xander, and Cordelia at their crowded table.
- Xander awkwardly interacts with Cordelia, and Willow nervously stammers.
- Xander and Willow accidentally knock over a tray of drinks, embarrassing themselves. Cordelia questions why everyone is so hyper, and Willow deflects by mentioning Buffy's odd behavior.
- They speculate whether Buffy has a new boyfriend, and Buffy arrives just in time to hear their conversation. She admits she's "going out with somebody," before leaving with Faith.
- Parallel Narratives:
- Buffy's secret relationship with Angel parallels the group speculating about her romantic life.
- The crowd in the Bronze, packed and restless, mirrors the chaotic tension within the group.
Scene 2: Cemetery Fight
- Summary:
- Buffy and Faith are fighting vampires in a cemetery while Giles calmly observes from a bench.
- Faith struggles more than Buffy, but both manage to dust their vampires. They joke about synchronized slaying, but their victory is interrupted by Gwendolyn Post, who introduces herself as Faith's new Watcher and criticizes their technique.
- Motif/Reversal:
- Synchronized slaying: This playful teamwork is reversed later when Buffy and Faith fight against each other rather than side by side.
Scene 3: Library Meeting

- Summary:
- Faith resents having a new Watcher, but Gwendolyn asserts her authority.
- Gwendolyn reveals that a demon named Lagos is searching for the powerful Glove of Myhnegon and instructs the team to find it before the demon does.
- Parallel Narratives:
- Gwendolyn’s manipulative behavior mirrors Buffy's own hidden actions with Angel, setting up the theme of betrayal of trust that will unfold later.
Scene 4: Tension with Angel
- Summary:
- Buffy and Angel practice T'ai Chi together. Their movements are intimate, almost leading to a kiss before Buffy pulls away, reminding them both that their romantic relationship is dangerous.
- Buffy mentions Lagos to Angel, and he reacts with concern. Buffy leaves to find the Glove before Lagos does.
- Visual Metaphor:
- The slow, controlled movements of T'ai Chi reflect the repressed emotions and tension in Buffy and Angel’s relationship—calm on the surface, but with deep intensity underneath.
- Motif:
- Distance vs. Closeness: The recurring struggle between staying close but not being together (Buffy and Angel’s near-kiss). This echoes throughout the episode as characters fight both emotional and physical closeness.
Scene 5: Giles and Gwendolyn
- Summary:
- Giles researches the Glove of Myhnegon and reveals his findings to Gwendolyn. He offers her tea, but their conversation is cut short when Xander bursts in to inform Giles that Buffy has been hiding Angel's return.
- Gwendolyn pretends to help while Giles and Xander whisper about Angel’s possible danger.
- Parallel Narratives:
- Gwendolyn's calm demeanor as she deceives Giles mirrors Buffy’s calm facade while hiding her relationship with Angel. Both involve characters concealing critical information.
Scene 6: Confrontation in the Library
- Summary:
- Buffy is confronted by her friends about hiding Angel. Xander and Cordelia are furious, while Willow tries to mediate.
- Buffy defends her decision to keep Angel a secret, but Xander's harsh words about Angel killing Ms. Calendar strike a nerve.
- The tension is broken when Buffy reveals that Angel found the Glove of Myhnegon and is keeping it safe.
- Motif/Reversal:
- Trust and Betrayal: Buffy’s betrayal of trust with her friends is the flip side of her friends’ previous trust in her judgment. This scene mirrors the upcoming betrayal by Gwendolyn.
Scene 7: Faith’s Solo Mission
- Summary:
- Faith, feeling excluded, takes matters into her own hands after hearing about Angel from Xander.
- Faith tracks Lagos to a cemetery but is overpowered by the demon.
- Parallel Narratives:
- Faith’s isolation is a parallel to Buffy’s earlier secret-keeping—both Slayers are trying to solve problems on their own, leading to consequences.
Scene 8: The Glove of Myhnegon
- Summary:
- Xander witnesses Buffy and Angel sharing a kiss while Angel is keeping the glove safe at his mansion. Shocked, Xander and Faith plan to take action against Angel.
- Motif:
- Forbidden Love: The kiss between Buffy and Angel repeats the motif of forbidden closeness, echoing the earlier theme of near-kisses and emotional restraint.
Scene 9: Buffy’s Confession to Willow
- Summary:
- Buffy confides in Willow about how keeping secrets, especially about Angel, has been weighing on her.
- Willow considers confessing her own secret about her growing attraction to Xander but decides against it.
- Parallel Narratives:
- Buffy’s struggle with secret-keeping mirrors Willow’s internal struggle with her own secret regarding Xander.
Scene 10: Fight at Angel’s Mansion
- Summary:
- Faith, believing Angel is a threat, attacks him at his mansion. Buffy intervenes to stop Faith from killing Angel, leading to a fight between the two Slayers.
- Meanwhile, Gwendolyn reveals her true intentions. She knocks out Angel, takes the Glove of Myhnegon, and prepares to use its power.
- Motif/Reversal:
- The earlier synchronized slaying between Buffy and Faith is reversed here as they fight against each other instead of vampires.
Scene 11: Gwendolyn’s Betrayal
- Summary:
- Gwendolyn uses the glove to summon lightning, wreaking havoc inside the mansion.
- Buffy and Faith stop fighting and work together. Buffy throws a shard of glass, severing Gwendolyn's arm and causing the glove's power to consume her.
- Parallel Narratives:
- Gwendolyn's betrayal mirrors Buffy’s perceived betrayal in hiding Angel. Both involve a hidden danger revealed too late.
- Visual Metaphor:
- The lightning summoned by the glove represents the uncontrolled power of betrayal and deceit, striking down not only the betrayer (Gwendolyn) but also threatening those caught in the crossfire.
Scene 12: Aftermath
- Summary:
- The next day, the group reflects on the events. Xander awkwardly tries to reconcile with Buffy, and Giles, recovering from his injuries, reveals that Gwendolyn was once a Watcher but was expelled for misusing dark magic.
- Buffy attempts to reach out to Faith, offering her trust and friendship, but Faith remains closed off, unwilling to let anyone in.
- Motif:
- Trust and Isolation: Faith’s isolation at the end of the episode parallels Buffy’s earlier secret-keeping. Despite attempts at connection, both characters remain isolated in their own ways.
