Part One: Biblical Perspectives on Jezebel and Babylon the Great

Introduction: Two Women, One Spirit of Seduction

In biblical scripture, Jezebel and Babylon the Great are portrayed not merely as historical or prophetic figures but as enduring archetypes of spiritual corruption and seductive power.

Revelation 2:20–23“You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess... I gave her time to repent, but she refuses... I will throw her onto a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation...”

These figures are less about personal villainy and more about a spiritual system—one that entices, deceives, persecutes, and consumes.

The Historical Jezebel: The Original Spiritual Assassin

Jezebel was a 9th-century BCE Phoenician princess who married King Ahab of Israel. She introduced Baal worship, orchestrated the murder of Yahweh’s prophets, and nearly destroyed Israel’s covenantal identity.

1 Kings 18:4“For it was so, when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the Lord...”

She is depicted as ruthless, sexually manipulative, and religiously subversive—qualities that modern interpretations would classify as spiritual abuse or even witchcraft.

📽️ Movie Parallel: "Game of Thrones" – Cersei Lannister shares Jezebel’s archetype: a queen who manipulates religious power, engages in political seduction, and enacts brutal retribution on her enemies.

The Symbolic Jezebel: False Prophecy in the Church

In Revelation, “Jezebel” becomes a type of false prophetess—a deceiver embedded within the church itself.

Revelation 2:20“That woman Jezebel... is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.”

She symbolizes spiritual compromise disguised as revelation, enticing believers into perverse forms of intimacy with unholy powers. Her followers will face divine judgment if they do not repent.

Babylon the Great: The Globalization of Jezebel’s Spirit

Revelation 17:5“Babylon the Great, the mother of prostitutes and of earth’s abominations.”

Babylon appears as a drunken prostitute riding the Beast, intoxicated by blood and wealth, reflecting a global, institutionalized Jezebel.

Revelation 17:6“I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.”

This is spiritual harlotry on an apocalyptic scale—a system of idolatry, murder, and deception that enslaves nations.

📽️ Movie Parallel: "The Matrix" – The Matrix itself is Babylon, feeding off humanity’s unconscious consent while keeping them pacified in spiritual delusion.

Commercialism, Sorcery, and the Traffic of Souls

Revelation 18:11–13“Cargo of gold and silver... and slaves—that is, human souls.”

This passage portrays Babylon as a global trade empire that even traffics in souls. She seduces the world with wealth and entertainment, only to own the very destinies of her victims.

Revelation 18:23“For by your sorcery all the nations were deceived.”

This isn’t just about economic oppression; it’s about a spiritual economy in which people unknowingly exchange their souls for fleeting pleasures or survival.

📽️ Movie Parallel: "Doctor Strange" (2016) – Kaecilius is lured by promises of power from Dormammu in exchange for his soul, paralleling Babylon’s pact-based seductions.

Jezebel and Babylon: Twin Archetypes of Anti-Christ Seduction

Jezebel operates personally and politically; Babylon operates globally and cosmically. Both are enforcers of false religion, persecutors of the holy, and dealers in blood and seduction.

  • Jezebel targets prophets and reforms with personal vengeance.
  • Babylon targets entire civilizations with economic and ritualized control.
Revelation 17:18“The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.”

Both are described in feminine, seductive terms—not because womanhood is evil, but because seduction here is used as a metaphor for unseen spiritual domination.
